Barcelona will be looking to strengthen their hold on second place in the La Liga table as they travel to Sevilla on Saturday evening to face fifth-placed Real Betis.
The Catalan giants are currently two points behind third-placed Sevilla, and Real Betis are three points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid in the competition for the top four.Real Betis beat Valencia in the final to lift the Copa del Rey for the third time in their history last month. Of course, 58 points from 34 games put them fifth on the table, just three points behind fourth-placed Atletico in the same number of games, and winning this match will put them in a confident mood. Their last three matches are against Valencia, Granada and Real Madrid.
The Green & White House, who have not finished in the top four in La Liga since 2005, were held to a goalless draw by Getafe in their final game on May 2, just two points from their last three. The league matches were last won on April 9 against Cadiz. Manuel Pellegrini's team has scored nine points from 17 home league games this season, including nine wins, two draws and six defeats, 29 points, and will welcome Barcelona's second best away record in Spain's top flight this season. 31 points from 17 matches.
Real Betis won 1-0 at Camp Nou in a reverse game earlier this season, but lost 3-2 last season when the pair clashed at Sevilla. Xavi's team has lost three of their last five matches in all competitions, including two of the last four in the league against Cadiz and Rayo Vallecano. Barcelona will face Celta Vigo, Getafe and Villarreal in the last three league matches of the campaign, and they want their chances of claiming three points on Saturday evening as they have won five of their last six league matches against Real Betis.
